# Schedule Recalculation in Case of Amendment
After a lease schedule has been activated, changes to the lease agreement may require the schedule to be recalculated. Typical amendment scenarios include:
* Changes to the lease payment amount.
* Extension or reduction of the lease term.
* Updates to the interest rate.
* Other changes affecting future lease payments or lease liability calculations.
The amendment process creates a new schedule version while preserving the original schedule for audit trail and historical reference purposes.
## Amendment Rules
The following rules apply when creating a schedule amendment:
* Only future schedule periods can be amended.
* Schedule lines with posted accruals cannot be changed.
* Amendments must be processed through a new schedule version.
## Creating a New Schedule Version
To amend an active schedule:
1. Open the active lease schedule.
2. Select **Create New Version**.
The system creates a new schedule version based on the active schedule.
The newly created version receives:
* Version Status = New
* Schedule Status = Pre-Contract
At this stage, the new version can be edited without affecting the currently active schedule.
## Updating Schedule Parameters
After the new version is created, the required lease parameters can be updated.
In this example, the lease payment amount (**Period Payment (PMT)**) is increased from **3,500 EUR** to **3,700 EUR**. As soon as the value is changed, the system automatically recalculates the schedule using the updated payment amount. No separate recalculation action is required.

## Updating Asset Depreciation Dates
When the lease term is extended or shortened, the depreciation period of the related Right-of-Use (ROU) Asset may also need to be updated.
The system does not update Fixed Asset depreciation dates automatically during an amendment. A warning message is displayed when a new schedule version is created.
If required, update the following fields manually on the Asset Card:
* Depreciation Starting Date
* Depreciation Ending Date
## Confirming the Amendment
Once all changes have been completed and reviewed, confirm the amended schedule using the standard **Confirm Schedule** action.
The amendment confirmation process follows the same validation and activation logic as the initial schedule confirmation.
## Amendment Results
After confirmation:
* The amended schedule becomes the active version.
* **Version Status** changes to **Valid**.
* The previous version remains stored for historical reference and receives **Version Status = Old**.
This ensures a complete history of all lease schedule changes throughout the contract lifecycle.
After the amendment has been confirmed, all future periodic activities, including accrual postings and depreciation calculations, are performed using the newly activated schedule version.
## Accounting Impact of the Amendment
When an amended schedule is confirmed, the system compares:
* The remaining lease liability balance of the current active schedule.
* The newly calculated Present Value (PV) of the amended schedule.
The difference between these values is posted automatically as a lease liability adjustment.
In addition, the carrying amount of the related Right-of-Use Asset is adjusted automatically. Depending on the nature of the amendment, the adjustment may result in:
* An increase in asset value.
* A decrease in asset value.
