# Schedule Recalculation in Case of Amendment
After a lease schedule has been activated, changes to the lease agreement may require the schedule to be updated. Common examples include:
* Changes to the lease payment amount
* Extension or reduction of the lease term
* Changes to the discount rate
In the ASC 842 solution, this process is handled through a **Schedule Amendment**.
#### Amendment Rules
The following rules apply when creating a schedule amendment:
* Changes can only be applied to future periods.
* Schedule lines that already have posted accounting transactions cannot be modified.
* A new schedule version must be created for every amendment.
### Creating a New Schedule Version
To amend an active lease schedule:
1. Open the active schedule.
2. Select **Create New Version**.
3. The system creates a new schedule version that can be edited.
The newly created version receives:
* **Version Status = New**
* **Schedule Status = Pre-Contract**
### Updating Schedule Information
Once the new version has been created, the schedule becomes editable.
For example, the **Period Payment** amount can be changed from 4,000 to 4,500. After modifying any schedule input parameter, the system automatically recalculates the schedule. No additional calculation action is required.
### Confirming the Amendment
After all required changes have been reviewed, confirm the amended schedule using the same **Confirm** action that is used for the initial schedule activation.
### Amendment Results
When the amendment is confirmed:
#### Schedule Status Changes
The amended version becomes the active schedule version:
* **Schedule Status = Active**
* **Version Status = Valid**
The previous version remains available for historical reference and receives:
* **Version Status = Old**
#### Accounting Entries
The system automatically creates adjustment entries for:
* Lease liability remeasurement based on the difference between the previously recorded liability balance and the newly calculated Present Value (PV).
* ROU Asset value adjustment.
